What kind of clay can we fire?
The type of clay that will be used in the ceramics studio is an all purpose white stoneware that will be bisque fired to cone 04 and glaze fired to cone 6. We want to keep the same clay body to avoid confusion.
Can I bring ceramic pieces made offsite to be fired?
Offsite ceramics pieces will need proof of the type of clay that was used to ensure it will successfully mature at the proper cone 6 firing the studio will be handling. An additional kiln fee may apply as these pieces will require a separate kiln firing. Clay that is fired at the incorrect temperature will cause pieces to melt to kiln shelves or adhere to others participant work.

Is clay included in classes?
We will be using the same white stoneware throughout the studio to decrease any confusion and/or blending of different clay bodies which will alter the expected results.
Is clay included in classes?
Students enrolled in formal clay classes will be required to pay a materials fee and/or buy at least 1 bag of clay for the class. Some drop-in Open Studio time will have clay included in the pricing. This policy may change as we evaluate needs within the studio.
