CREATE COMMUNITY STUDIOS

The idea to open a ceramics studio in Schenectady originated out of a community need for better access to clay arts. We are currently able to offer hand building in our studio, but due to limited space we’ve developed a new vision: a designated ceramics studio that adjoins our current studio space. We found that space in Alchemy Studios on Erie Blvd. This expansion connects directly with CREATE’s overall mission of creative expression and community connection: an open studio model with mentors available to help with wheel throwing and hand building skills.

Our new Ceramics Wellness Studio is headed up by local clay artist Kristi Isabella. She began instructing ceramics classes at our original studio on State Street. in 2018 after discovering CREATE and bringing her 6-year old daughter to classes. While working with the community, Kristi realized there was a greater need for clay arts in Schenectady and began working toward the construction of our new designated ceramics studio. Now with our team of amazing instructors, CREATE welcomes you to a profound journey of the meditative and grounding experience with the joy of clay.
