Clay Day Open Studio

Clay Day Open Studio has long been one of our most popular and well attended classes. It offers the opportunity for individuals of all levels to learn how to create their own original hand built pottery.



The therapeutic nature of working with clay has long been extolled by ceramicists, expressive artists and art therapists. It is a true expressive medium that combines tactile gratification, a holistic physical and mental experience, and meditative moments, while still sharing in playful connections with other class members.

Coming Early 2025!

The idea to open a ceramics studio in Schenectady originated out of a community need for better access to clay arts. We are currently able to offer hand building in our studio, but due to limited space we’ve developed a new vision: a designated ceramics studio that adjoins our current studio space. We found that space in Alchemy Studios on Erie Blvd. This expansion connects directly with CREATE’s overall mission of creative expression and community connection: an open studio model with mentors available to help with wheel throwing and hand building skills.

Pending construction, we are hoping to open CREATE Ceramics Studio in late 2025. 

The Ceramics Studio will operate on a membership basis with 24-hr access memberships beginning at $90/m.

Additional limited access memberships and working memberships for experienced ceramicists will also be available.
