C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios is thrilled to announce the next series in our community reading, discussion and art-making groups with SEEN (Saratoga Educational Equity Network) will center around James Baldwin’s Collected Essays, starting March 7.  Our first discussion will center around Baldwin’s 1965 Ebony essay, “White Man’s Guilt,” in which he reflects on the role of history in shaping present identities. Baldwin’s writings are accessible but challenging, provoking us to continue conversations about identity, American politics, community, the role of art, and the place of history in contemporary life. **Free to attend**

Books are available at a discount at Northshire if you want your own copy or like to mark things up, and books will be available to borrow for participants in attendance. In the meantime, the first reading is also available on Google Books, along with the Ebony archive. This program is supported by a grant from Humanities NY, and runs as part of C.R.E.A.T.E.’s  ongoing program series Erasing Spaces and Faces with community support from MLK Saratoga, Saratoga Arts, Saratoga Springs Public Library, and Skidmore College’s MDOCS program.

Upcoming Classes – 3/7, 3/21, 4/4, 4/18, 5/2, 5/16
